To make this a lot easier for end-users, phone manufacturers keep on creating mobile devices with wide screens.

Even those Smartphone manufactures are making the screens look bigger, the size is still limited.  This indicates that a Smartphone can only offer a limited screen size and the experience cannot be as exciting as when you watch your movies via a TV. If you want to increase the size of the movies you watch on your Smartphone, you can simply connect the device to your TV for a wider and more exciting experience. One of the best ways to do this is to connect your Smartphone to the TV using an HDMI cord.

In case you do not have an HDMI cord and you still want to connect the Smartphone to your TV for a wider screen movie experience, you can always get this done via several other methods, some of which will be explained in the course of this write-up.

Use USB cable

Many of the vales used in charging mobile devices are USB cables. You can link the cable to a series of external devices, like laptops, using power adaptors.

You can also link it to the TV set for a wider display of your Smartphone contents.  Be that as it may, some TV sets do not come with USB ports and such a connection will, therefore, not be possible with such a TV.

If your TV comes with a USB port, however, then you can connect your Smartphone to the TV with ease.

After counting your Smartphone to your TV via a USB port, you will be able to view all the files on your Smartphone through your TV screen.  This way, you can view the photos and videos on your Smartphone via your TV set.

To make this possible, you will have to go to Source on your TV set and then select the USB option. After doing that, a prompt will come up on your Smartphone, via which you can access the files. Bear in mind that the connection can also charge your Smartphone at the same time.

Screencasting also works

You can successfully connect your Smartphone to your TV using screencasting if you do not have an HDMI cord or your TV does not have the feature. Screencasting has to do with transferring content from your tablet, Smartphone, and other similar devices to your TV screen.

This way, the video contents or images you are accessing on your Smartphone can be shown on the TV screen.

Several streaming services out there today provide support for screencasting, good examples of which are Netflix and Hulu.  Many also do not feature screencasting, however. In such a situation, you can go for screen mirroring.

You can do screencasting using several devices, a good example of which is the Roku streaming device. Google Chromecast is also good for screencasting.  Many smart TVs come with inbuilt third-party apps that make screencasting easy.

Screencasting will only display the content you are watching on your TV screen, while screen mirroring will show everything on your Smartphone to the TV screen, thereby mimicking the screen of the Smartphone. Screencasting works in such a way to provide you with the best resolution and format that will work perfectly for your TV screen.

While screencasting is cool, it has some limitations.  For example, the speed of playing the videos can be slower than what obtains on your Smartphone.

Screen mirroring

We have mentioned screen mirroring earlier, but not to detail.  With screen mirroring, you will be able to replicate the screen of your Smartphone on your TV.

If your smart TV app does not come with the cast button, you can always opt for the screen mirroring option to display your Smartphone screen on your TV set.

Screen mirroring does not depend on the app at all. You can use it if your Smartphone supports screen mirroring.

Many of the android smartphones produced over the years support screen mirroring; even android 5.0 offers such support and the latest android operating system is not left out.

However, the latest android devices have better optimization for screen mirroring than the earlier versions.  They can, therefore, work more reliably and smoothly.

To make it easy for you to mirror your Smartphone on your TV, you should get Google Home installed on your phone first, to do this, follow the steps below:

  • Select Account
  • Then tap on Phone/Device
  • Cast Audio/Screen

Some mobile devices come with Google Home preinstalled and this means you will not have to go through the installation process again.

Some phones may also be able to scare screens automatically and screen mirroring will be very easy on such devices.

Samsung devices automatically feature Smart View and this allows the end-user to easily connect his Samsung Smartphone for easy sharing of content between the two devices.  With the help of Smart View, you can send content from the Smartphone to the TV set and vice versa.

Screen mirroring can completely mirror your Smartphone screen on your TV and even replicate all the behaviors of the Smartphone.

If you turn off the screen of the phone while screen mirroring, the TV too will automatically turn off.  You need to set your hone’s screen to stay alive if you want to avoid this.  Setting the phone to stay awake for a prolonged period can cause the battery to drain faster.

While mirroring the phone, you will not be able to use it for any other purpose. You will not have to worry about this if you opt for screencasting, which allows you to use the phone even while the screencasting is going on.

Screencasting permits you to use your phone for various purposes like picking and making calls, checking messages, browsing social media, etc.

You can even leave the room while screencasting is going on and it will not be disconnected.  Consequently, screencasting is more beneficial than screen mirroring.
