If you will like to connect any wifi-enabled device to the wifi network but you do not have one, you can simply use that of another person.
If you have a neighbor that has a wifi network, you can nicely ask the neighbor to allow you to connect to his network. If the neighbor is the type that does not like sharing, you may want to hack his wifi password.
Note that I do not recommend this. However, I will give you helpful ideas on how to do this if this is the only option available to you and you just must be connected to a wifi network for a very important project.
You will also find the idea given below to be very helpful if you lose your wifi password and there is no other quick way to recover it.
Use windows commands
There are window commands that can help you gain access to someone’s wifi network without their consent.
This method can work as desired because Windows is designed to create a profile of all wifi networks connected to it.
You can also ask windows to forget a particular password and it will not create a profile for it.
If your target wifi network owner has asked Windows to forget his password, then you will not be able to use Windows Commands to access the person’s wifi network password or network security key.
To use this method, follow the steps below:
- Navigate to Windows Command Prompt using the administrative privileges.
- Click on the State Menu and input “cmd” without the quotes.
- The menu will bring up the Command Prompt. Right-click on the entry and choose Run as administrator. The black box will come up with some texts and the prompt. You will see a blinking cursor, showing you where you can input texts.
- Type “netsh wlan show profile” without the quotes
- This will bring up the User Profiles, showing all the wifi networks you can access.
- Pick the one you are interested in, highlight and copy it.
- Input “netsh wlan show profile name= “XXXXXXX” key=clear” at the prompt below but replace the Xs with the name of the network you have copied. You can input the quotation mark if the network name has spaces between it.
- New data will come up. Look for Key Content under Security Settings. The word you see displayed there is the key or password for that wifi network.
Use software
The steps described above may be too complex or unattractive to some people. If you are one of such persons, you can get the password to your neighbor’s wifi network by using the software.
Examples of software you can use to detect the password are:
- WirelessKeyView
- Cain & Abel
If you are using macOS, launch the Spotlight search using CMD+Space and input Terminal.
This will give you the command prompt for Mac input “security find-generic-password – wa XXXX.” Replace the Xs with the network’s name.
Reset the router
One other way to crack the password to your neighbor’s wifi network is to reset the router. To use this method, you will need to have physical access to the person’s router.
To do this, open your wifi and try to log in to the victim’s router. You can now indicate that you have forgotten the Password and you will be directed on how to reset it.
You can only use this method if you know the router’s password. The router’s password differs from that of the wifi network.
How can I get someone’s Wi-Fi password?
You can get someone’s password by asking them nicely are by getting unauthorized access. To get unauthorized access to the password, you will have to hack or look for a way to steal it (not recommended).
Some computer programs are designed to help detect the password to a wifi network. Some of the programs are available for free and you will have to pay for others.
However, you should choose carefully when downloading a program for hacking wifi passwords since some of the programs are phishing tools that will put you at a security risk.
Can I connect to the Neighbors’ WiFi?
Yes, you can connect to your neighbor’s wifi if your neighbor grants you access. To give you access, the neighbor will have to give you his wifi network password.
Aside from this, there is no other legal or recommended way to access your neighbor’s wifi network.
If you will like some other methods aside from the recommended method, then you can consider hacking the wifi password.
There are certain command prompt codes that can be used for hacking your neighbor’s wifi password and we have described that method above.
We also mentioned how you can do this if you are using macOS instead of the windows operating system.
Can I use my neighbor’s Wi-Fi without access to his phone and without knowing his password?
No, it is not possible for you to use your neighbor’s wifi network if you do not know his password or have access to his phone. The only way by which you can use your neighbor’s wifi without access to his phone or password is if your neighbor helps you to set up the wifi connection without giving you his password.
How can I get free Wi-Fi password anywhere?
There are certain places or ways where you can get free wifi. If your friend decides to open his wifi network to you, you can use it for free.
Some public places also provide free wifi networks for anyone in that environment. For example, some institutions of higher learning provide free wifi connectivity to anyone within their environment.
However, they may place some restrictions on the sites you can visit while connected to their wifi network.
Some banks and shopping malls also offer this free service, including some libraries. If you are looking for where to use free wifi connectivity, you can visit any of these public places.
Nevertheless, you must be aware of the possible risks you are exposing yourself to when you use free wifi in public places. It will be a lot easier for hackers to gain access to your personal data.
